Gareth

Farfan

Year of Birth: 1969
Date of Death: June 22nd, 2026

Gareth Farfan died peacefully on June 22, 2026, at Eagle Ridge Hospital, Port Moody, BC after a brief and unexpected battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Amanda Gleave, his daughter Lily, his siblings Frank, James, Leslie, Penelope, Harry (predeceased), and Matthew.

We lost a true legend. “Gareth the Great” will be missed by more people than he could have ever imagined.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life in his memory at a date to be determined.

Dear Lily and Amanda, sending all my love and condolences. Gareth was an amazing and kind person that will never be forgotten. He never failed to make people smile and I love how the last memory I have of him is him drinking a slurpee and laughing because it was so cold! In our hearts forever.

Dear Amanda and Lily

Through all the years I knew Gareth, which I think is now essentially half my life, I’ve always looked forward to seeing him at our Geer / Gleave events. His energy always brought a smile, and his humour always made me laugh.
I’m so sad we lost such a great man.
We love you both like family, and want to send you all the love we can.
I know this is a tough time, and nobody can tell you they know what it’s like, but we love you.

Hello Lily, Amanda, and all family of Gareth. I knew Gareth through the bottle club and am still shocked at his tragic passing. We both shared a love for local history, old bottles, artifacts, and photography. His sense of humor and overall presence will be missed by all who knew him in the club as he was a a great member/ friend who made a positive contribution to the hobby. I will definitely miss his humour and wit. Again, sorry for your loss, you have my sincerest condolences.

You are in our thoughts and hearts Amanda, Lily and all of Gareth’s family.
We are so deeply sorry for your loss. There are simply no words for a time like this. Please know we are sending you both so much love and the biggest hugs.
I’ll always remember Gareth’s smile after he cracked a joke, his quick wit, and the way he’d always greet me with, “Hi, Coach.” It was such a small thing, but it always made me smile. He had a wonderful way of connecting with people.
Please know that you’re both in our thoughts. We hope that in time, the many happy memories you shared bring you comfort and peace.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Cory & Makena Campbell

Dear Amanda, Lily and Family,

I had the pleasure of working with Gareth on two TV shows and I can say that he was always a welcome fresh breath of air every time he came into the production office. He often talked about how proud he was of his travelling daughter.

I will miss his cheeky sense of humour and his outlandish t-shirts. He was a very sweet soul.

My sincerest sympathies to you all for this deep loss.

Amanda, I am so sorry for your loss. Though I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Gareth, I was always struck by his curious nature and his perspective on life. Seeing his instagram photos of his travels through Alberta’s towns and cities to capture their history through their ghost signs brought a smile to my face – it reminded me of my own childhood exploring rural communities with my grandmother. Thinking of you and your family.
