Andy died on November 2, 2022, at the age of sixty. He was raised by his loving parents, Ritva Salo and Esko Ahonen. Andy was born in Vancouver and raised in Burnaby. He proudly called himself one of the “Capital Hillbillys”.
Andy was a humble, honest and outgoing guy. He loved watching the Canucks and watching soccer, especially when Liverpool was playing. Old time Rock n Roll was in his soul. Laughing with friends with a Jamiesons in his hand was his idea of time well spent.
Andy was the kind of person who would whisper a joke in your ear at the most inappropriate times for a laugh.
Predeceased by his father Esko and his brother Timmy.
Survived by soulmate and life partner Leeola Zanetti, mother Ritva, children Kaitlin and Riley (Stefani Vujadin), sister Laura Bryant, nieces Eva Bryant, Jessica Bryant – Rönnqvist (Daniel), the mother of his children Jody McGill and many friends and family.

Andy was a great friend of mine, he was like a big brother to me.. Stupid jokes and good banter back and forth, our Monday mornings usually consisted of little jabs at one another, I’m going to miss him calling me Princess lol.. When I needed help with anything he was always there for me. We both supported Liverpool Football Club, so there was an instant bond between the both of us, YNWA.
If he was here I’d like to congratulate him on being an amazing person
to all of his friends and family.
Till we meet again,
RIP my friend.
I worked beside Andy for many years and came to love the guy. I can still see him striding through the shop, towering above everybody, and I can still hear his morning greeting, “Hi Gar Bear!”. I hope I hear it in my memory for many years. Miss you my friend.
Rest In Peace our Capitol Hill brother and friend. I’m thankful that I had the chance to celebrate with you your 60th birthday, and to have reacquainted these past few years. You are a true Burnaby North Viking and will remain in our hearts always. God Speed to the heavens of Valhalla.
My deepest condolences 💐

I was shocked to find out about what happened to Andy! Whenever I needed anything at work and if I knew Andy was coming to our school, I knew ge would help with anything that we needed and no questions asked. When I was at Dr. Charles best , he came and did all the plexiglass between our desks. Then I went to Heritage Woods and I asked Andy if he could do the plexiglass on all the secretaries desks! Thank you Andy for all your help and knowledge! I will miss your help and caring of what you do! Miss you m, Andy!
